With the upgrade of wireless network from 3G to LTE, the Chinese optical transmission network faced with upgrading technology to adapt the changes in the wireless network.

Speaking to the technical level, China still has gap compared with foreign suppliers in optical devices. Today, main companies of optical communication network have rapidly gone through the 2.5G, 10G, 40G era, and moving to 100G. OVUM data shows, 100G equipments around the world increased by 5 times in the third quarter of 2012, and Chinese Mobile began purchasing 100G optical devices. But only several manufacturers like opnext, JDSU, Finisar, Fujitsu can provide 100G optical devices over the world currently. 100G high-end optical devices are still in research in China, the less competitive high-end products will restrict the high growth profits to China in future.
